Day 1: Kathmandu → Pokhara
Distance: ~200 km (drive)
Elevation: 1,400 m → 820 m
Travel Time: 6–7 hours
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara along the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers. Pokhara is a beautiful lakeside city surrounded by Himalayan views.
Highlight: Stunning drive through river valleys and the first views of the Annapurna range.
Day 2: Pokhara → Nayapul → Ulleri
Distance: ~10 km trek
Elevation: 1,070 m → 2,050 m
Trek Time: 5–6 hours
After a short drive to Nayapul, the trek begins along the Bhurungdi River passing through villages and terraced farmland. The trail then climbs steeply via a famous stone staircase to reach Ulleri village.
Highlight: Traditional villages and beautiful mountain landscapes.
Day 3: Ulleri → Ghorepani
Distance: ~9 km
Elevation: 2,050 m → 2,860 m
Trek Time: 5–6 hours
Today’s trek passes through beautiful rhododendron and oak forests, especially stunning during spring bloom. The trail gradually climbs to the charming village of Ghorepani, surrounded by Himalayan peaks.
Highlight: Colorful rhododendron forests and views of Annapurna South.
Day 4: Ghorepani → Poon Hill → Tadapani
Distance: ~12 km
Elevation: 2,860 m → 3,210 m → 2,630 m
Trek Time: 6–7 hours
Early in the morning, hike to Poon Hill for one of the most spectacular sunrise views in the Himalayas. After enjoying the panoramic mountain views, return to Ghorepani for breakfast and continue trekking through forests toward Tadapani.
Highlight: Sunrise over Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges from Poon Hill.
Day 5: Tadapani → Ghandruk
Distance: ~8 km
Elevation: 2,630 m → 1,940 m
Trek Time: 4–5 hours
The trail descends through forests to reach the beautiful Ghandruk village, one of the largest Gurung settlements in the region with stunning views of Machapuchare and Annapurna South.
Highlight: Traditional Himalayan village culture and incredible mountain views.
Day 6: Ghandruk → Nayapul → Pokhara
Distance: ~10 km trek
Elevation: 1,940 m → 1,070 m
Descend through terraced fields and forests to Nayapul, where the trek ends. From here, drive back to Pokhara.
Highlight: Scenic village landscapes and relaxing evening in Pokhara.
Day 7: Pokhara → Kathmandu
Distance: ~200 km
Travel Time: 6–7 hours
Drive or fly back to Kathmandu, marking the end of the trek.
Highlight: Beautiful drive back through Nepal’s countryside.
The Ghorepani – Poon Hill Trek is one of the most beautiful short treks in Nepal and a perfect introduction to trekking in the Himalayas. This journey takes trekkers through lush rhododendron forests, charming Gurung villages, terraced farmland, and breathtaking Himalayan viewpoints in the Annapurna region.
The highlight of the trek is the early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m), one of the most famous viewpoints in Nepal. From here, trekkers witness a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, with panoramic views of peaks such as Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli.
This trek also offers a wonderful cultural experience as the trail passes through traditional Gurung and Magar villages like Ghandruk and Ghorepani, where trekkers can experience local Himalayan hospitality while staying in comfortable mountain teahouses.
